PAM MARTIN-WELLS DOES VERY WELL IN 2010 CLASSIC
Pam Martin-Wells has been fishing professionally for about twenty years.
She fished the Bass'N Gals trail where she holds the woman's record
weight of 47.14lbs. on Lake Sam Rayburn in Texas. The WBFA which she won
angler of the year twice, she is now fishing FLW, BASS.
She has 119 top 10 finishes, and is the all time lending money winner in women's professional fishing.
She won an angler of the year award in 1994, 1995, 2005, and
2009 which earned her a spot at the classic, and she holds 14 nation tittles.
This year she became the second woman to qualify for the Bass Masters Classic and she
came in 22 place earning her another paycheck of 12,300.00.
The conditions where awful it was cold, windy. It snowed all during the practiced days, but she
weighed in a limit of five fish everyday, and was one of the first of the anglers to get a limit in
the boat all three days. And the fact that she qualified for the final day was another first the women.
Pam Martin-Wells gave a perfect example that men and women can complete on the same level when it
comes to fishing.
She has got some good sponsors like Legend Boats,
Mercury Marine,
Bassaholics Life Style Apparel,
just to name a few and she is fishing seven of the BASS open tournaments with the men.
The first tournament which was Jan. 14th she came in 161st place no
money but she still did better than 39 others and she did weigh in fish
her second being the classic in Feb. The next tournament will April 8th on lake Amistad in Del Rio Tx. She will be back in Alabama at lake Smith on May 13th.
I am hoping to go to the weigh-in and see first hand how she does in that one.
Then in Oct. 7th-9th she will be fishing her home lake
Seminole in Georgia.Pam and her husband Steven have a guide service on Lake Seminole called
Wells Guide Service.
She has been fishing that lake all her life which will give her an advantage. She could possibly win that one or at least be in the top 10.
I really want to see how she does in that tournament, I think she has a lot more in store for
us this year, and I hope to see more women join the mens circuit.
