STARTING A NEW BASS CLUB CAN BE MADE SIMPLE

If you only use the knowledge of members that have been in other new bass clubs before the one you are trying to start now. The process issimple by asking each member to get together for a meeting two or three times before you start fishing tournaments, because there is equipment you need to have in place, and accounts to set.

Just because you are organizing the meetings does not make you in charge of everything, you must get all the members involved otherwise you will do all the planning and footwork.

The first thing you should have is at least six members to start a fishingclub, with a minimum of three of them being boaters but the more boaters you have to start off the club will help, because you should try to have at least one open boat just in case a boater can't fish or his boat becomes unavailable to fish out of.

The club I fish with always has three more boaters than non boaters to ensure there is always someone for the non boaters to fish with. There is nothing worse than losing a member because he can't fish do to lack of a boat for them to ride in.

The first meeting of your new bass club should be set at a time when all members can attend, because you have very few members and they all need to have a say in what is going on in the fishing club. You must vote in a President, treasure, secretary, tournament director/vice president but in a small club of six people 3 of them need to be officers of the bass club, treasure/secretary and tournament director/vice president can be held by one person having dual rolls.

After voting the members should start taking their roll in the bass club, at that point, start off by taking minutes of the meeting and the president should call the meeting to order asking that the first order of business is to list what needs to be accomplished at the next few meetings.

I suggest the following:

(You have already voted in the officers)

  • Vote on a name of the bass club.

  • Vote on a time and place for members next meeting.

  • Ask all member do they know of anyone else interested in joining a fishing club, boater or non boater.

  • Inform all that the bass club will need to set up bi-laws (rules) to govern the club, so ask them at the next meeting to have any suggestions written down to be voted on by the club members.

  • Ask members to have suggestions for the bi-laws, like the point system for the club,(points, or by weight) to judge winners.

  • The officers need to go set up a bank account with all the officers names put on the account, also make it where in order to write a check or withdraw money it will take 2 members signatures.

  • Have each member of the new bass club submit a list of lakes, or rivers they would like to fish so they can be voted on but try to have at least 5 different areas to choose from, but keep in mind that most clubs start off fishing only 2 to 3 bodies of water close to home and they fish them 2 to three times a year.

  • Vote on bass club colorer's if you decide later to get shirts for the club at a later date

  • .
  • Vote on trophies, money , or both for the winner of the tournaments.

  • Vote on the amount of membership dues members will pay yearly and the monthly dues amount as well.

Some of the new bass club equipment that you must have are as follows:

1. Fishing club will need to purchase some kind of scales to weigh the fish.

2. You will need a basket to hold the fish.

3. You will need someone with a computer to write up all the minutes, and the tournament results .

4. You will need a receipt book to keep up with the dues paid by each member .

This will help you get started with your new bass club if you have any questions please contact us or subscribe to our site by posting your questions and let others give you advise. I am willing to help anyone to get started in fishing, this is something near and dear to my heart.
