Neely Henry
After all the bad storms we have had in Alabama, I finally got a chance to get back on the water. I decided to go to Lake Neely Henry which is the next tournament site for the Golden Rod Bass Masters out of Birmingham Alabama.
I woke up to a nice down poor of rain and had decided not to go fishing, but after about 7 am the weather started to change being a little cloudy and for this time of year a little on the chilly side.
I called a buddy and we got to the lake around 10 am to find the water heavy stained and air temperature still in the low 60's.
I launched the boat at hwy. 77 bridge and decided to go up the lake to fish some flats and grass, water temperature was 76 degrees, and warming.
With this major cold front and all the debris in the water that was reported through the week, we took our time running up the lake and did not move around a whole lot.
The bite was slow, only putting in the boat 8 fish, all were keepers out of 9 bites, which I broke off one fish late in the day.
All but one fish was caught on a senko type bait fished with no weight, wacky style, colors were baby bass and white, fishing on the edge of grass.
We had no luck at all on any docks. All in all our best 5 would have been about 10 pounds.
Tough fishing today but glad to be back on the water, with the cold front I guess we did alright and even better than most we talked to that day.
