Logan Martin Lake Pell city Alabama May 8th 2010

FISHING BFL ON LOGAN MARTIN

water temp: 76
clarity : heavy stained
wind : 20 to 25

The day started out getting lucky boat number 22 draw for the tournament, and in the first flight, yet the day had a interesting twist to what I had found in practice, instead of hot blue bird skies. We got cloudy conditions with a cold front and wind blowing 20 to 25 miles a hour.

Needless to say with the wind blowing that hard it hurt my fishing badly since all my area's was on the main lake bluffs that was holding large amount of fish. I tried to fish fish the area's but could not hold the boat on location for very long.

I think all 216 contestants were looking for area's out of the wind, we had white caps rolling down the lake all day long so this gave non boater the advantage today over the boater since they just had to fish and not control the boat. The winning weight was greater than the boaters because of this weather factor.

I managed to pull in 4 keepers while standing up and missed 7 while bouncing up and down all over the place, but my non boater pulled in 5 keepers and finished in the top third. The weights were very close in this tournament by ounces in several places.

The Texas rigged lizard bite was still on when you could feel the bite, I caught 6 non keepers that I didn't even know they were on since I had such a bow in my line due to the wind blowing so hard and heavy and missed several more that I thought may have been bites or bumping up against the rocks on the main lake.

I had hoped to capitalize on the main lake and the horde of fish that was found in the three area's, and still the fish were there we put over sixteen pounds of fish off the area I had even with the bad weather between the non boater and I but this was not good enough to over come some of the shallow water anglers that chanced the trip up the lake to get to more protected waters to fish.

The winning weight for the boater side was 16 lbs 1 0z and the non boater winner had over 18 lbs
I finished with 7 lbs 8 0z a disappointing day on the water for me.

I have another tournament on Lake Logan Martin next week, hoping the weather conditions are better. I plan to stick with the pattern that I found and think I will be able to secure a win next week.
The larger fish that have seem to have spawned and have pulled out to recover and feed up, I will continue to use a lizard to
target them because I was getting very hard strikes then I will back it up with a deep diving crank bait over the rocky points.
