Kelsie with Grandpa on the boat

Saturday May 1st turned out to be good day for all the kids participating in the C.A.S.T for kids event. I had to get Landon and Kelsie up at 4:30 to get to Lake Gunterville at 7:30am.

Landon wanted to know where we were going to fish at night, I just told him it would be daylight by the time we got there, both of them went right back to sleep when we got in the car.

My son met me there he had Jaycee she was ready to fish and had her Dora Rod with her carried it all the way up to the registration tables, showing everyone her rod along the way and telling them she was going fishing.

I think she like watching the worms and cricks and throwing rocks in the water than the fishing this time but she only two.

Landon on the other hand was casting and casting determined he was not going to stop till he caught a fish.

He started fishing around eight he stopped just long enough to eat and get his face painted and was fishing again.

Kelsie is legally blind and has limited movement of her on left side was #1 and was paired with boat # 1 for the event only special need kids got paired with the boaters.

The siblings had and area set up on the bank that was roped off and fish was added to the area.

We caught nine fish each one getting bigger and her excitement grew and grew. Her boater let her drive the boat back to the landing. She got a new rod a tackle box with lures, hooks, a life jacket, and a plaque.

All the clowns were making balloon animals and painting the kids faces dancing with the live band playing, NBC News was there and filmed the event. The smiles on their faces brings so much joy to your hearts you can't help but love each everyone of the kids.

If your company is looking for a great charity, C.A.S.T. is a registered 501 (c) (3) that allows all donations to be tax deductible. Anyone wanting to volunteer for an event in your area.we need about 85 volunteers for 50 kids attending an event.

If you don't have one in your state and you would like to organized and sponsor an event go to C.A.S.T for Kids

In 1996 The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation’s established a Fishing Kids Program built around the slogan of “Getting more kids fishing, more often”.

The Fishing Kids Events are designed to create and provide more fishing opportunities for urban youth, ages 5-14. Each event hosts approximately 500-1,200 children and for a $5 entry fee each participant receives a Fishing Kids t-shirt, rod & reel to keep!
