BASS FISHING TOURNAMENTS COME IN ALL SIZES
Starting with club bass fishing tournaments all the way up to the Pros. Anyone over the age of 16 can sign up and pay the
entry fees to fish an open or a benefit tournament.
Some you have to work your way up the ladder and qualify for each level, like the BFL is the starting place for FLW. Top six members of a club registered with the federation can go on to Qualify for the bass masters classic, armature side. You have to start with B.A.S.S. open tournaments and qualify for the Pros side.
Last year I fished the McDonald's Big Bass Splash! at lake Sam Rayburn in Texas. It was the largest Bass fishing tournament that I had ever fished, with over 9,000 entries and one of the most organized tournaments I have ever fished considering it size.
Mark Outdoors in Alabama on Lay lake is the second with over 500 participants. These benefit tournaments are well advertised and have there own web sites, as well as lots of sponcers.
There are also night fishing tournaments that are fished during the week in the summer.
They are sometimes called bass cats, those are usually 3 to 4 long and held weekly. You can all posts those types of tournaments here and spread the word.
If you have not noticed there has been a lot of women bass fishing tournaments in the news, The woman's pro trail started a championship position that qualifies for them for one spot in the bass masters classic. This starting 2008 but the trail was canceled in 2010.
Fishing team trails is the next step up in the sport of bass fishing. Trails are set up like clubs, they have officers, checking accounts, and a set numbers of tournaments each year, with a Championship Event at the end of the year, that you have to qualify for. It's more like a business.
Only the officers or founders
make all the decisions, and they make money off the yearly sign-up fees and entry fees. Any one with a partner who signs up, pays the entry fee, and follows the rules can fish.
I for one have fished a team trail with my wife as my partner. We did well in it and made it to the championship and won the big fish trophy that year.
The ABA has
the bass fishing tournaments trail for couples (The American Couples Series), and C.A.S.T.C.A.S.T. (Couples Association of Sport Tournaments) are a few trails I have been looking into. If anybody else has heard of any other couples trails post the information so we will know about it.
If you have thought about oraganizing a tournament, or a team trail in your area. You can post it here for free to help get the word out so you will
have a better turn outs.

Next comes Simi-Pro trails like Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Series you enter can as a boater or a non-boater if you are a boater you pay more and and you are considered the Pro, the pay back is better. You are paired with a non-boater,but you are not competing against the person, and you are the one in charge of the boat. In these tournaments you can fish different regions and different states. Another helpful tip about bass fishing tournaments if there is a lake you are not familiar with on the trail you can hire a guide. Some Pros do this on a regular basis. You can learn useful information from a local guides even where the tackle shops are. Its always a good idea to check your local tackle shops in the area you are going to fish, Because you never know what you might find on sale, or you may find a color, style of plastics you like, but have a hard to finding. I am always looking its, the Bass Aholic in me.
