A BASS FISHING CLUB WHY SHOULD I JOIN?

The Goldenrod Bass Masters in Alabama
A Bass fishing club is the beginners level of competition. It's where you get your roots and learn the sport of bass fishing. It's good to start young and grow with it. Being a non-boater in a bass club is the best way to learn about rivers, and lakes you have not fished before. Observe land marks and how the boater navigates the water ways. Always look for hazards that might not be marked, and Listen to what the boater has to say about a particular body of water, this will help you later. I joined my first bass fishing club in Norfolk Virginia as a non-boater fishing large bodies of water like Kerr Lake it covers two states. I was 26 and had never fished a tournament before but just liked going fishing. I learned the hard way that you have to have a licenses for both states because there is no visible sign in the water thats saids you are on the North Carolina side now. You are now going to jail because a Virginia license is only good when you are on the Virginia side but that was over twenty years ago. I've come a long way since then.

After the first tournament I loved the competitiveness and I wanted to learn everything I could about the sport of fishing. I love winning and being the best at what I'm taking partin at any given time. That started in school were I earned a gold metal in Stuttgart Area Youth Olympics, and later earning scholarship's for football, and baseball. I choose football that was my favorite at the time. Knee injuries changed the course of my life, so now I fish and love it more than football.
Curt Lyle was still in college when he joined that club and look where he is today. He is just one of the many friends I made along the way. I learned from him even though he was younger because he had fished these waters sense he was a child and learningthe lakes and how to read lake maps was key back then. Because onboard GPS had not been invented yet. It's still a good to learn how to read lake maps and what the symbles mean..
Each time you bass fish with a different person you can learn a new trick of the trade or he can learn from you. I have made life long friends all over the country from fishingin different clubs. Three of them have become Pros. So I know if you love to fish, there are great possibilities joining a bass fishing club

A bass fishing Club has two types of members boaters and non-boaters. You don't have to own a boat to join a bass fishing club.
It helps because you can't have more non-boaters than boaters. Two people to a boat is the norm, but you fish as individuals.
So a boater can fish alone if there is not enough non-boaters, unless the club has voted to be teams only in their (bi-laws). Don't forget to read your bi-laws it will have all your club information in it. If you are a new member and a non-boater it is important to bring your own equipment, but no more than six rods and a medium tackle box
Have your own life jacket, money to pay for a portion of the gas.

Some clubs vote this in the (by-laws) some don't, it takes a lot of gas to run a boat so
always offer your partner some money to pay for gas, and a bag of ice its takes two to last all day.
Bring plenty of water and your snacks keep it simple you are there to fish not eat all
day.Any medications you may be on that if not taken could become a serious threat to you.
Let your boater know of any medical conditions like diabetes it could save your life.
Always be on time, and learn to back the boat down and park it after you have
unloaded the boat.
The best advise I can give a non-boater is always remember the boaters
in the front has control of the boat, if you annoy him or show
your not willing to work together, he can make it harder for you to catch a fish.
You can work with him, and be show respect for his boat. You will learn more, and he is less likely to take advantage of the situation. You will come to enjoy your bass fishing club.
